rams get bigger and become sexually mature before ponds do, but for smaller puffs I prefer ponds.

either one will do.

Possibly go rams as they get larger more quickly, especially if you have a heater in the tank.

When I mentioned "smaller puffs" I should have stipulated, DPs, babies and juveniles.

Considering they don't need to be larger then their eye, I'd go with the pond.

Second PP;s comment.

Rams need more space to get big, and then are too large for F-8s. Ponds will populate more densely and that itself holds the adult size down a good bit.

Hey JP....

You're talking about a heater in the snail tank, right? I have 2 rams tanks, and I don't heat either one. Should I? They seem to grow very fast as long as I keep their tank nice and clean and feed them often.

you don't need to. If you are happy with reproduction and growth rates, save some $$ on the bill ;)
