Hi I have looked at the puffer forms befor when I first got my first puffer fish, but never signed up. But I thought I could use some help so here I am. I have a green spotted puffer and a figure eight puffer and they both live in a 30 gallon tank but the problem is the only thing the figure eight will eat is frozen brine shrimp but that is the only thing the green spotted puffer won't eat! So what I have been doing is taking the figure eight out and putting him into a bowl and feeding him sepretly. The reason I won't feed the figure eight in the same tank is he dose not eat all of the frozen brine shrimp and I do not want ammonia building up. Is there any way to make him eat snails or blood worms? I have no idea what to do.

Now on to your problem......GSP and F8 should never be housed together. They have different requirements. That GSP should be the only fish in a 30 gallon tank. They both require different levels of salinity also. The F8 should be at 1.005 and the GSP is supposed to move to full saltwater as an adult.

Also you are going to stress that F8 out severely by consistently moving him like that. Im assuming your moving him correctly and not getting him fully out of water at any time. If you do take him out of water he may puff full of air and that could be a death sentence

Yes I NEVER take him fully out of water. So what do you think the minimum size of tank for a F8 should be because I will go out and buy whatever he needs asap. Thanks for the help.

15g is OK, 20 long is better.

Thank you so much for your help I will pick up a 20 long with filter and heater I found on craigslist asap.

Dont forget to cycle the tank fully before moving him over

Also you can use a vacuum thing or a hose to suck out any left over food (or if its on the surface, use a fish net to scoop it out?)

Thanks for all of the advice it was very helpfull. He loves his new tank and is has not turned grey at all. I have a new question now. What is the best salt level that the GSP should be at when he is 1-3 in long?

just slowly start moving it to marine. Move it to like 1.015 or so and then just slowly go up from there

Thank you for your help I have put the salt level at 1.010 and will increase it weakly.
