The Puffer Forum

This is my common (avocado) puffer tank... there is a small pleco in there to clean.. i put him in there for a week to clean up... until my puffer started nipping at him good, i transfered him back to my other tank...

I now have TONS of baby snails crawling in there.....
Its a 7 gallon tank. My puffer cycled this tank.... and survived... i was changing the water like twice or more per day..it was a headach..

What do you guys think I should do about baby snails in there??? He doesnt seem to notice them yet... heck, I still havent seen him eat a snail.. he'll eat shrimp and meal worms though...

Anyone ever fed their puffer meal worms???

Nothing!

Mealworms are extremely fatty & should be fed very infrequently. Do you have a better pic of your puffer?

Are you sure of the identity of your puff? A close up pic of your puff would be excellent. Don't worry about the snails...I wouldn't.

I'm just about 95% sure he's a common redeye puffer.. (avocado). Sorry, i dont have a close up picture that is clear...ive tried though.. they usually come out pretty foggy.

Meal worms should be cut in half before feeding. In reptiles they have been known to stay alive in the stomache and eat their way out. Not very pleasent for you or your fish that's for sure.

edit : on second thought for a puffer I doubt you'll have this problem as they crush their food to death. It's not something you want to feed everyday though.

Well, after looking on pictures from that puffer list he is definatly either the Fang's Puffer or the Common puffer... and i havent seen spots on his tail ever so common puffer he is.

I'd skip on the mealworms anyway. Too fatty.
