Here is my newish 10gal[the other planned DP 10gal turned into a betta's tank[doubletail halfmoon plakat to be more specific] of course since I've got 7 bettas now and wanting more...lol]
Inhabitants are probably a few more then a dozen red cherry shrimp[my friend just collected basically whatever he saw in his shrimp bowl since he wanted CRS in there] and some snails that I wanna move to another tank before I get the dwarf puffer[mainly so I can keep them going as a continuous food source, but I don't want the mini ramshorns dying]...plants are low light and floating fern, duckweed, java ferns, java/Christmas/flame/Taiwan moss, & anubias barteri 'nana'...
Other equipment is standard...3WPG from 2x 15W spiral 6500k CF bulbs, AquaTech 5-15[established], Mopani driftwood, deep river[dark brown] gravel, & gonna get a tetra 50W heater when I can afford it...
Anyways, my plan is to get a black background, more mosses/ferns, & a heater...

Thanks!
It looks kinda blah right now:
I don't mind some tannins but that's crazy...lol It'd probably be better if I did a WC but I don't wanna shock the shrimp[pH crash from 8.2 water mixing with lower]...I'll just get a new activated carbon filter cartridge, I guess...

lol Floating plant is floating fern[very close relative to water sprite, but not the same]...it was basically a cushion for my HMPK when I was cycling the tank with him[didn't intend on getting him[he was $4 when they are normally $15] and it was better then his cup] but I *LOVE* the stuff...turns the tank into a jungle in 3...2..1...
Oh, I counted 12 of the 13 RCS today[it's hard to count 7, so 12 is better then nothing] so close enough and I'm gonna take a guess that the tannins probably aren't hurting them[in fact, lots are saddled/big/showing the best colors I've seen]...still, I'll clean up the tank sooner or later and get it photo ready...

Just a random update...I counted 15 adult RCS a few days ago...2 or 3 are berried so I guess when those babies are grown alittle, I'll add the dwarf puffer...
Tank is still overgrown[poor anubias is completely deprived of light between the tannins/floating fern...lol]...I'll do some work on it soon enough...

If you maybe up the water changes, this would decrease the nutrient levels in the water so less plant growth and happier fish.
You could well know this already though.

I'm sorry I missed your reply...yeah, I do plenty of WCs...things are generally ok...sometimes I just rescue sick fish that pull through only to die a few months later from something stupid like dropsy with no explanation...sometimes I think I make them suffer by "making" then live a few more months/weeks, but they seem happy/healthy until their death day... :S I have pretty mixed feelings about rescuing sick fish at this point...like one of my bettas, Element was bought without a tail[they were *NOT* gonna keep him...poor guy had enough crap wrong...he needed a home whether I paid or not] and he's 100% healthy and it's regrowing...Arc was bought with simple fin rot and just never recovered/pulled through...
Anyways, this tank's update:
This is the tank as of today:
It's been looking like this until I got fed up with it...
BTW, floating fern is impossible to propagate in my tanks...I can't send any to anybody else unless the want a giant plant of it...lol
I still need to get a dwarf puffer at some point...I'm kinda focusing on the shrimp at the moment tho...lol Kijillion babies...
