cracked tank

looked in one of my small tanks and the back is cracked arggghh never had this before, do tanks just crack? i bet it was the eel in the substrate, now i guess i know whats going in the spare tank,or an excuse for a new tank lol. so my question is has anyone had a tank just crack on them? no leaks yet

any temp patch up ideas to reinforce for a day or so till have time avail to switcheroo? dont want leak to form?

you could go get some aquarium sealant, and fill in the crack. But if its been there for a little bit, i bet it would be fine for a day or two.
What is in the tank, and where is the crack. could you lower the water level to either below the crack or just lower it period to take some of the weight/stress off the crack?

crack is bottom centre have a small spiny eel 2 dwarf frogs danios tetras and a male betta in there oh and 2 algae shrimps could lower it a bit to remove stress from the crack, i just dont understand how a tank just cracks thanks xray

Small tanks are rarely worth repairing. Replace it and set the new tank on a piece of Styrofoam or blue beadboard.

not to sound rude but have always and will always do this. this was one of my first tanks didnt expect a crack to just appear lol . maybe eel moving fast through substrate? had tank for about 20yrs

Only tank-busters ever crack tanks, and those do so very rarely.
Unlevel and uneven bases crack the most tanks, follow by shocks to the glass. Loss of seal between panes can also, but usually just gives leaks.
