What thermometer is best?

I was just thinking. What type of thermometer is most accurate? I am currently using a stick on one with my GSP. May switch his if you think I should, also I need one for my new 10g. setup.

Coralife makes a digital thermometer in tank, display outside kind, I gave it a shot. It's actually pretty neat. You can put the thermometer anywhere.
Lol

I have the stick on kind on my fahaka tank. I used a glass one before and it some how broke and I suspect thats why the fish that were in that tank died.

Do the reptile ones work in water? I ask because I have one from when I had a leopard gecko.

i dont know that they all would. i imagine most digital probe thermometers would, i made sure the coralife one was for land/water

I think the glass thermometer are the most accurate. Thats what I use.

I use mostly glass. I have a digital on my f8 tank and love it. Ares has a stick on one and a glass one...the glass one is scaring me now...he could easily crush it!!!

The digital electronic thermometers are far more accurate than the glass floaters or weighted sinking types (I would never use either or any other glass thermometer in a puffer tank). The stick-on types are even less accurate or sensitive. Do go digital. The Coralife ones are inexpensive and accurate.

If you do go digital don't do cheap as they are wildly inaccurate, I had 3 and each one was out by over 2 Celcius, I've now got 3 glass alcohol ones (that come with a sucker) and they are all consistent in their readings and therefore suit my needs.

Someone once said that their puffer bit through the glass thermometer. That's scary. I think they look old fashioned personally. I feel like the coralife one I use is very accurate, and I like that I can move the probe to make sure the temp is consistent throughout the tank. And it looks cool, modern and techy.
The glass thermometers put the "mom" in thermometer, but coralife makes, "therMILFeters".

I have and use multiple Coralife digitals. They all agree within very close readings - small, generally single-digit tenths of a degree variation. That is far closer than you can read an alcohol or mercury (rare these day) glass jacketed thermometer. I would never risk a glass thermometer in a puffer tank myself. I gave those up long ago.

When I first got my F8 he would bite at the little round weights in the glass thermometer. I think he thought they were snails.
I used to use the glass ones but now every tank has a stick on and they seem accurate enough. I double check them with a infra red thermometer and I also use this to double check temps at WC time. I do use the old glass floaters for mixing though.
