After doing some reading, I still have a question for all you pros to answer. As a newbie, without puffers and as a kid, I am still in the process of learning. So, if I bought a 1-2 inch GSP could I just put it in a full marine? Or should I just have BW and rise it up gradually. Also, if I get a fry, can I put it in a full marine? Or the same as before. Could someone also post a link for one, how to setup a BW and 2 how to rise up the salt levels to full marine/higher BW, BTW yes, I'm stooooopid whats like 1.015? and that stuff

I would start it in what ever the LFS had it in and then just raise it up. But thats me.

1.015 is high brackish iirc, 1.023 to 1.027 iirc is full marine.....but wait for the experts

Ohhh, you have no idea how excited I am. My uncle is probably getting me a 73 or 93 for my bday. GSP going to town, gonna put two in there. Getting a 30 and 20 gallon for my bday as well. Have a 29 with just 5 barbs, think a SAP will get bullied?

Most stores keep there GSPs in fresh or low end brackish water. I would start my tank at the SG the store uses and rise it by no more than .002 a week, eventually bringing it to full salt.

Personally i wouldnt keep SAP's in anything smaller then a 55 so they have room to swim, since they are so active.

Oh and make sure you buy a hydrometer or refractometer to read the SG. SG= specific gravity, which is how salt is usually measured.

to go along with GSL, a refractometer is better then a hydro. A hydro will get the job done but a refracto will be more accurate

the refractor is a good bit more then a hydro, but from what ive heard your beat price is gonig to be ebay

I would get an Instant Ocean hydrometer. Its a bit more work to use, but just as accurate and much cheaper.
