It's a FW puffer and it's a target species but beyond that I'll leave it to those more experienced.
For snails common pond or ramshorn are fine.

Yeah, thats what is confusing me as well. Right when i found this forum that puffer was featured...much to my dismay. But my main priority is determining what it is exactly and whether or not I keep the tank brackish or let it return to normal freshwater.

Short snout, stand out eye spot. .. cochehenis (I cannot spell tonight)..also known as a fangs puffer.
I am positive it is not anabei nor a lemerius

Even though this one is labeled barbatus, it is a leimirus (still cant spell)......definately not even close to your fangs puffer in both body shape, color, and snout length.

I got mine for $15.00 Considering I've visited dozens of small and large pet stores across Denver Los Angeles/orange county and Hawaii, I'll say it was a pretty good steal

I don't remember where it came from, but it was among a set of road signs that were hacked into and modded here are the links for the other two.

Puffernet is the absolutely worst site for ID.
My guess is the Fang's puffer (Monotrete cochinchinensis):

I'll agree with PP.
For proper M. abei and M. leiurus pictures use the forum search and the pufferpedia. In my opinion they look very different.

I did search here for the Leiurus, but the images i found wen't loading up. and i could not find anything in the p.pedia. But I am starting to agree with the fang puffer. Is it a brackish water puffer or freshwater?
