Best time ever at the fishy swap meet! Got a gorgeous blue pleco, orangespot pleco, 5 (for the price of 4) electric blue rams, 2 German rams, some sort of striped polypterus, 2 cool plants, 2 spotted synodontus---I think I remembered them all.

Cool... that plant looks wicked! Gonna have to search for this kind of shindig in our area. Thanks for the idea! I would have never thought of this otherwise.

Good grief, do you have the room for all that?
What is the plant? It does look like a crinkled Val.

I lost all my discus this year, so I'm restocking the 90g. No more discus for me, although there were a lots of gorgeous tempting species to buy there! I might have bought a pair of angels if there weren't so many other cool things to purchase & I spent all the $$$ I brought. That plant has little round balls coming out if it (flowers?) & the seller said it's new to the market. I got lace Java fern too.
7 rams (5 elec blues, 2 Germans), plecos & plants went into the 90g planted tetra/pleco tank. I had to tear all the rock out to catch the Ornate polypterus that had eaten all my smaller tetras, before I added the baby rams in there. Of course, I also had to clean under all those rocks (lots of detritus blowing around after that). I put the new little polypterus into the same tank I moved the bigger one into but Filbert started stalking it like it was a worm (almost the same size), so I quickly scooped it out of that tank & added it to my 10g dwarf puffer tank. It's not much bigger than the Vietnamese kuli loaches in there.
I am worried about the Ornate polypterus in Filbert's tank. The way he went after the little guy... I'm so glad he was easy enough to catch. I think they look too much like worms. I moved my red-tailed pleco into that tank from the 90g too.
Those electric blue rams are spectacular! I've never seen them before but they were selling breeders for $35 ea & that was wholesale! I got 5 babies for $50. They were actually picking at the pleco's watermelon.

Also, that blue pleco is my prettiest one now. Fat head, slate blue with white edging on fins.
I forgot, I also got a dozen red ramshorns. Very pretty & they were already laying eggs in the bag. They had those self-cloning crays there too but I was too late & they got sold. I've got the guys card though & he's not far.

Glad you enjoyed our swap. By the way, that was our smallest one in years due to scheduling issues with venues. We usually have about 80 tables!
Also, I happen to know a guy who has three self cloning crays in his basement right now. Under the Mpimbwe frontosa, and next to the 125 mixed African tank......... Just saying.....

If ya want one, he's yours.

If I had a lot of carnivores ATM, I would g for the self-cloning crays myself. They have great potential for an owner-bred food.
It has been a very long time since I kept rams. They used to be quite picky, but do-able. Back then they were babied quite a lot - water mods, the whole bit.

I'll find out today. Cleaning the tank. The tiny one is in the DP tank. The larger Ornate is in Filbert's tank. I paid $60 for that fellow. He's pretty good at hiding.
