What cartridges should I use? Sponge, carbon and Biomax or Sponge, carbon and Ammonia remover? Is it possible to use all 4 types?

Sponge on bottom, 1" floss in middle, BioMax on top. Save the carbon for med removal.

Floss?

Better known as pillow stuffing, bought cheap at a sewing supply store. "Polishes" your water, crystal clear.

Yah I was trying to get some Biomax at the LFS today, they didn't have any so the lady there kept trying to sell me Ammonia remover and said "it does chemical, biological and mechanical filtration". I finally had to walk out on her cause she wouldn't admit she was wrong. I don't know what I'd do with out the puffer forum.

BioMax should come with the AC filters now.

It does the filter I'm using is an aquaclear I had lying around from a previous freshwater community tank. It came with a Biomax when purchased. Aside from a stain the filter is in amazingly good condition.

Great HOB filters there is. I also have BioMax in my canister filter. Probley the best bio media out there. The larger hollowed BioMax is what I use.

Wait, is this the same stuff as that cotton fluff used to stuff stuffed animals, cause my sister has some and shes coming home from college thursday.

Oh, how often should I replace floss and can I use it in salt water?

I rinse the sponge about 1x/month & toss the floss. No, SW filtration is totally different.
