Hello! I am new to the Forum... and I have a question about one of my GSPs. They are 4 years old, 30 gallon, and the smaller one just started biting the bigger one real aggressively~is this normal? I have searched the Forum, but cannot find anything on the subject.. Please help, I luv my little guys and don't want to have to separate them.

How many do you have in your tank? Since 30g is the minimum for a single adult, my guess is that tank is too small for them & they are fighting for territories. GSPs get more aggressive as they mature.

Hi kandis and welcome to The Puffer Forum. This unfortnatly is all to commom with GSPs, they may get along for years and then as they mature turn on one and other in a heart beat. Your tank is a bit to small for two it is highly suggested 30 gallons a singlton min. and more is better. I would suggest to have the tank highly planted but again with that tank size you really are going to need to seperate them or upgrade to at least a 60G but even this will not guarantee to stop the aggression once it has started.

Thank you! The fish store guy told me 10 gallons per puffy... :/ There are two, and they been together for the entire 4 years and this behavior just popped up the past week.. I will buy them a new home this week!

Thank you again for your help!

Yeah, never listen to the fish store guy! Lots & lots of decor to break up their lines of sight & give them territories in their new, larger tank.
