The Puffer Forum

In the coming months I hope to begin working on and finish my puffers 60gal cube upgrade. She's in full salt water right now, if that makes a difference.

I've got my fair share of tanks with very ugly equipment/overflow pieces everywhere so I'm trying some new thigns in my pufffers tank (new to me at least). One of which will be a closed loop.

Now I know my puffer likes the flow, and this question might hinge on the personality of the puffer, but in general, do puffers (GSPs) like lots of flow? She loves playing in the output of the modified MJ900 in her tank, and I'll obviously provide some lower flow areas.

At the moment, I'm looking at using a Mag12 with 6 outputs on a closed loop. The only other flow I'm planning on having in the tank would potentially be from a return pump but thats going to be between 2 and 300gph tops.

I have 24x flow on my gsp tank, and they absolutely LOVE it.

hehe i had running 47x tank turn over in that tank not from the sump. my fish thought it was great. everythign busy and no major current pushers that slammed fish into walls or anything.

55 gallon tank o finished a 3200 + gph

in the tank. before i ran into a pump issue. i plan to do the same thing for my 75 gallon tank as well.

i build closed loops, ones on ybenormals tank, they are very good, and very easy to build.

I'm going for something a bit different, but the goal with the number of outlets I'm planning is to get lots of flow without having high velocity flow. To think, I passed up the opportunity to get a Mag 18 for $50 for this tank.... Oh well.

Thanks for the input guys! The closed loop I'm planning is a little different from traditional, but I dont see it being much more complicated. Thanks for the words of encouragement - I've never actually built a closed loop, but I cant imagine it being tooooo difficult.
