Hello!

First time poster, long time reader!

I am about to have 'spare' 30 gal aquarium. It currently houses two black moor's who are about to be upgraded to a much larger tank.
For a long time I have been interested in Colomesus Asellus, and was wondering if they could successfully be house with 10 Tiger Barbs?
I am thinking 2 Colomesus Asellus would be the max for this setup?

The tanks are fully cycled, I would just need to order the Colomesus Asellus' from my LFS and do the tank move, therefore no cycling required.

Your literature suggests that 3 Colomesus Asellus are preferable, would two be acceptable when younger - looking to increase the population in a year or so?
Your articles are great, I thought i'd put my plan to the pro's before actually implementing anything!

I wouldn't keep anything with tiger barbs.. far too aggressive.

Been a long time since I kept Tiger Barbs and it wasnt a pleasant experience, I always got one dominant one in a goup that would harrass the rest and then start nipping the other fishes fins. For an already skittish puffer like the SAP I think it would be a bad idea.

Tiger barbs are swimming madness!

I keep 2 SAPS in a 30 with 5 bleeding heart tetras. There are no problems with nipping from either end. SAP's behavior is far different than any other puffers I keep. I'm thinking I'll probably remove the tetras to see if the behavior changes. The SAP's don't go near the tetra so I would like to see if they become more active in other parts of the tank if they are removed. SAP's seem to be very peaceful. Since the addition of Patron to the tank Tito definately seems happier and doesn't spend all day cruising the glass. he even comes to the front glass and stares at me now which happened immediately upon introducing Patron. Before that he acted as though I never existed. I would love to be able to keep one more Dp's have quite a big personality for such a small fish...much more personality than my SAP's. I keep them with Kuhli loaches which are hilarious to watch!

Sounds maybe like everyone would be happier on there own!
It was only because tiger barbs seem to be more interest in each other when in such a large group (8+), that I thought maybe I could get away with it. Didn't realize SAPS were SO skittish.
If anything I thought the barbs would be at risk from the SAPs.
I will re-think my plan, thanks for your prompt feedback.

IMHO & IME, neither Tiger barbs nor puffers are good "community" fish.

But then, also IMHO & IME, very few fish are. "Community" tanks tend to be stressful and usually shorten the lives of the inhabitants.

Ugh!!!! I just re-read the post and have no idea on earth why it says glass box instead of tank!!!!! That sounds horrible!!!! Is this an April fools joke???? I did NOT write that!!!
