So Ive been feeding the lil guys in the community tank frozen bloodworm daily, skipping the 7th day, I was looking at the frozen foods part of our local pets at home earlier and saw "Tropical Quintet" which is a pack of frozen blocks like the bloodworms but there are red and white mosquito larvae, daphnia and artemia in the pack, So I bought a pack I thought I'd feed blood worms 5 days a week and tropical quintet 1 day and still skip the 7th day.

I thought by doing this they can have a bit of variety, is this plan ok to do?

That would be fine! Wish I could find mosquito larvae here.

Tried what I assume to be white mosquito larvae last night, I didnt see the puffs go for it, the other fish loved them, shall try again, Ive been using 1/4 cube since the other fish eat the frozen foods too as well as them eating flake food (grr greedy so and so's) So I think I may try mixing 1/8 white mosquito 1/8 bloodworm to try to trick the puffs into eating the white mosquito. We shall see how it goes.

Srkoe I Know how you feel, I havent seen blackworms available to buy from anywhere here

EDIT: Correction Ive seen them available once, they were freeze dried ones, which, which I was of the understanding puffers rarely go for freeze dried foods?

I actually put buckets outside in the summer so mosquitos will lay there eggs in them. Learnt this trick from keeping salamander larvae.

Collecting mosquito larvae? I wouldn't do that anyways, I try everything to keep them away...they are horrible here!

Oh,and I can almost guarantee trying to trick your dwarfs won't work. They are smart little guys...lol!

I might try the mosquito larva trick... since mine is very picky about its foods :/

Yup, that is the key here. Boy can we tell a difference in the birds.

Maybe thats why the border patrol drives by slowly when I collect them from the swamp.
