API master test kit question

So I have the API master test kit for freshwater. I sent my husband to get a Salwater one. There were two kinds, the saltwater version and the Reefmaster version. He got the Reefmaster because we plan on growing corals and it contained all the tests we needed for that. The reefmaster did not come with Ammonia and nitrite though. When he looked at the single ammonia tests the package said it was for fresh and saltwater. The single bottles that you purchase look exactly like the ones that come with the freshwater kit. Question is, can I use the ammonia and Nitrite tests that came with the freshwater kit on my saltwater? We used the ammonia test on the saltwater tank tonight and it showed 1.0ppm but looked milky. The bottles in both the sw and freshwater kits look EXACTLY the same so I assume they can be used for both. I mean, wouldn't they use different colored bottles for said tests if there were difference so keepers of both fw and sw would not get them mixed up? Even the Nitrate bottles in both kits are exactly the same! If I were to put them on the counter together they would easily be confused and mixed up.
