Just curious...

when I come to check on recent posts...on the home page there is a number in brackets. I checked it just before coming here and it said (35).
When I clicked on 'View new posts' it takes me to a page where 9 threads are displayed...but only 2 of them actually contain 'New' posts

???

I thought that was the number of new posts over the last 24 hrs..

That may be the case here,...however on the other forums I frequent it usually represents the number of 'New posts' since my last visit. That's what I was curious about?

If you are checked for staying logged in, then it does new posts for the day (I think) Its only if you have to log in each time that it does for your last visit.

I hope I make sense.

New posts are cancelled out after a while & you loose the "newness" of them. You can find them by checking the forum for them, they will still be marked unread.

Since we have only 1 single Tech working here, I wouldn't worry yourself about it. We're lucky to be still running smoothly.

It works fine for me, I could not live without it. I gave up the hassle of scanning all forums ages ago.

Same here, ableit months ago versus years If it's a good post worth reading, there are usually lots of follow-up posts that make it stay on that front page...

It works for me too. My question was only about the discrepancy between the number in brackets and the actual amount of new posts.

ie...on another forum I frequent when I go back during the day it says there are (lets say) 7 new posts and when I click on the button it takes me to 7 new posts. When I come here the number says (75) but there are only 3 actual new posts.

It is still showing me the new posts...I was just curious as to what the number in brackets was (is) supposed to represent.

Anyways,...not a big deal...like I said I was just curious

Refresh the page & there will be no discrepancy.

Not sure this issue is worth the continuing discussion but...

I have refreshed the page several times....it still states after View New Posts (37)...Threads listed 17...actual new posts 7

When I log in, it says [17] New posts. I click, and I am taken to a page that says "More than 1,000 results".
I don't care though, I just come straight to the forum.
