Is their any type of rock (limestone, river rock, slate....) that should not be used in a brackish tank? Also, can you use silk plants normally used in flower arrangements for aquarium plants?

No metallic-ore rocks should be used as they can lose metals to the water. Limestone and other calcareous rocks are normally not used in FW other than Rift Lake tanks, but are fine in BW - their minerals are helpful in BW.

Real wood is not suggested.

Florist-type silk plants are iffy. They may or may not have metallic wires which are potentially harmful. Those made for tank use should not use or need wire cores.

Besides the wire problem pointed out by RTR, florist silk plants are not species-appropriate for your tanks. Its fun to look up the species of artificial plants available (bigalsonline.com is cheapest) that are both appropriate to your fish's native habitat and size appropriate to your tank.

I like the SeaGarden line of silk plants.
