hey i work at big als aqariums there is a mystery puffer there http://www.pufferlist.com/pictures/fish/lortetimale.jpg its got a similar color to this puffer it is plain with no markings its eyes are red pupils with a bright blue iris around the red pupil its about 1 1/2 inces big mabey a little bigger and i beleive its tail is some what redish anyone know what type of puffer is this is beleive it is freshwater

Did it come in with other fish? If so which?

no its with one other of its kinda the one is beat up his tail has chunks missing out of it and the one i want to buy its body is fine it looks healthy but very shy as it just hides or sits in the corner its with some glass fish i think in the tank this puffer has been there for a while anyone seen this type of puffer before dull green color a black dot near the tail similar to the target puffers and red eyes with a blue iris????????? i know somebody can help me no buddy on dwarfpuffers.com knows i KNOW some one here does.

Are you at work now? Do you have access to Dr. Ebert's Aqualog book "The Puffers of fresh and brackish waters"? Or access to a digital camera?

im going to work now actually but know i dont have accsess to that book or do i have accsess to a camera is the description alone enough i there cant be that many puffers with the type of eyes im describing

Maybe a female Carinotetraodon irrubesco?

C.irrubesco has more reddish caudal fin than C. lorteti. My best guess without a pic.

it has red on the tip of the tail but this might just be damage done by the other puffer as the red looks kinda uneven

Then its either C.irrubesco or C. lortei, both nice fish.

Definitely read as much as you can at this site. Actually, reading everything on this forum would be a good use of time.

lol iv been reading about puffers for a week straight i get up read go to work at a fish store come back feed fish then read some more then sleep HAHAH its the life

Sounds like Tetraodon cutcutia, aka. Emerald puffer, aka. Common Puffer, aka Psycho puffer
