Creature in my snail tank???

I was looking in my 5gallon snail tank tonight and saw some sort of creature on my filter. It was maybe 1/8th inch and opaque white. It was sorta shaped like a shrimp. Does anyone know what it could possibly be?

Nope. It had little legs...lots of them...And not worm-like.

I didn't see it swim...it just sat there. I came back later and it was gone :s

Well I just found two in the tank obviously mating!!! The one on top was clear, whitish...the one on bottom was clear tanish??? I fought them with a net. They stayed stuck together and swam really fast!!! I should have got some pics but they were trying to get out of the net so I just flushed them (I should have killed them first)

Ding..ding....ding!!!! J-P got it!!! Scuds alright! I read they like light brackish water however...hmmm. Anyways they don't seem to be bad except for the fact that they can be an intermediate host to tapeworms!!!! Ugh! What would you do? I'm positive they came in on the moss ball that is in there.

It is possible that they came in with the moss ball, but I'd consult the mentors on elimination and the potential hazards. I personally don't have experience with them.

just reading up on these guys.. apparently they are harmless and good for your fish as in breeding them for food... go figure

I've caught and flushed 3 now. If there are anymore I will leave them be...there are creepy looking though!
