Fahaka tankmates ????
I am thinking about putting some Cyprichromis Blue Flash with my juvie Fahaka (4'') in a 6 foot 125 gal tank.
Any thoughts on if this will work, and for how long ????

Is he active or kind of lazy? 99% of fahakas are vicious killers. Although all fish's lives are God's creatures, why not try something cheaper? Sometimes you can see just by how he reacts to the fish in a bag.

I am thinking about moving some fish around, the cyps are already in the tank. I will add the fahaka to them...... Is he lazy ???? he's pretty active in the morning before the tank lights are turned on...with them on he kind of just lays around, unless there is a crawfish or some thing to eat in there.

I have a zebra pleco in with mine,...but he has a huge rock wall to hide behind and only comes out at nite. I have some cherry shrimp and a few guppies in there too but as soon as the guppies get full grown he gobbles them up.

I know Filbert is a nice guy, but that's an expensive thing to keep with a Fahaka. It would have made me very nervous!Blaine wrote:I have a zebra pleco in with mine,...

Oops! I thought it was PP that had a zebra pleco with her Fahaka. I guess I think that it's only Filbert it's possible with. Anyway, I still mean it's an expensive thing to keep with a Fahaka.

Brave person, or stupid
They're about $400 here.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

Re: Fahaka tankmates ????
I do trust Filbert with a lot of different fish (even a pair of 20 year old elephant noses), but not so much with a smaller species $$$ fish.

He's already eaten an albino b.n. pleco.. A couple dozen rosy reds, I'll probably skip the cyps.. More then likely he'll end up by himself....

OH that's a high risk for them oscars. Them being slow moving and an healthy 8" fahaka can swim pretty fast. I will not even chance my fahaka with tank mates.

Re: Fahaka tankmates ????
Back when my Fahaka was about 3", I tried putting in a school of full grown tiger barbs (about 9 or 10), thinking they'd be fast enough... Boy was I wrong. He was a nice fat puffer the next morning! I didn't feed him for the nex 3 days, at least. Mufasa now lives alone in his 150 gallon. He shares his water with a convict in the sump.
