I have an angelfish and red tailed shark together in a 10 gallon tank (not mine, they are my sisters.) - my sister was not going to stay here for very long, but she has and that Angel is getting quite large... It looks like it has outgrown the 10G. But I have no other tanks to put it in+ it's not my fish - but it's in my house.

So, I have two 10 gallons with lone Betta's. A 14 gallon with some Danios, 2 Corydoras Cats and some shrimp etc. And the last one being a 45G with tiger barbs (10-11), 2 golden barbs, a Synodontis cats and 2-3 small Platy's. *rest are SW, Cold Water or Brackish*

While I doubt my mother would move the angel... I'm guessing even the 45 wouldn't work for the angel, I just feel bad seeing such a large fish in a 10 gallon tank. You know? I rarely see the shark but the angel is still growing. Any advice is helpful.

How is the barb's aggression. Depending on how the other fish are the 45 may work. Besides that is a new tank a possibility?

New tank isn't a possibility. When I first put in the Golden Barbs with the Tigers they made one of the Golden Barbs fins completely bloody and red, but it then recovered and gets along with them now.

Oh I see... wasn't sure never kept barbs.

You should know that no 10 is suitable either for a single Angel or for barbs. Your sister should trade the fish in, or if she has abandoned the fish to your care, you can do so.

I don't have barbs in a 10 gallon. The only bad tank here is this Angelfish/Red Tailed Shark tank.... I doubt my sister would let me take her to a LFS, and none of my tanks seem adequate at this time to house one.. Any other ideas?

Either convince your mom or sister that the tank needs to be upgraded, or the fish need to be traded in, or just take the fish in yourself. Get your sister something that is more appropriate for the tank. There really isn't anything else if you say your mom won't move the fish and your sister won't trade it/them in.

You could tell her it died after you take him in to the lfs, and then you can stage an angelfish haunting to ensure that she believes you. Make sure your ghost angelfish has a halo, because it's an angelfish afterall. It might be a good idea to have the ghost angelfish teach her about stunting and proper tank sizes. Don't use glitter, you'll never get it all off of you, she'll see it on you and your cover will be blown.

I think the best bet is to put the angel in the 45.

If you don't want to or don't think it's a good idea then sell it or take it to a LFS.

If your sister doesn't care enough to provide a proper environment, I doubt she'll care if you re-home it.
You know what you need to do Aq,...it's up to you to do it.
