So I have a 90 gal freshwater tank ready to go. I was at the fish store and FELL in LOVE with this huge puffer that seemed to smile and "play" with my small kids. I felt so bad to leave him there. I don't know which one to choose several different species. I want it to become rather large and I don't mind growing my tank set up with him. Which one should I get????

How much fishkeeping experience do you have so far? What's in the tank now?

What does "ready to go" mean?

Is it cycled? Are there fish in it already? Have you ever kept fish before?

I would suggest something other than a puffer if any of the anwers to my questions are "no". Puffers take more diligent care than your average fish. Perhaps a tank of african cichlids would be a better starting point. There are many different species and beautiful colours. I am not trying to take away from the idea of you getting a puffer (this is the Puffer forum after all) but I just think that starting with something easier to care for would be better. Once you have it down, then move onto a puffer. A Fahaka would/will grow nice and big....
