Finally, after all the speculation of whether these were males, females etc. I got a batch of eggs laid in my fluviatilis tank. Unfortunately the male swooped down in the tank... and of course gobbled all the eggs up. A friend of mine said i can expect the female to lay in another 20 days or so. Which i will be patiently waiting. Does anyone know of a successful breed of this species? because i would love some more insight if and when i get a successful spawn.

Water conditions?

the water conditions have to be relatively neutral i did a water change that night and added some salt and bam eggs the next morning... hey didnt last long but i am patiently waiting the next batch!

Think RTR was after something a little more specific! For instance, what is the SG?

I'll have to post that within the next few days.. I've been super busy with midterms and school related stuff. But i will keep everyone updated on the conditions and the way they act etc.! i just wish i coulda got a picture before the male ate them

Sorry for taking forever, school is still taking its toll on me. Well heres an update... My male was killed about 3 days ago by the female. I have no clue why it just decided to kill it but it may have been because of their spawning activity? Any ideas?

So sorry to hear that. I've heard of it happening with several other species as well

Yep, my female lorteti killed her mate, after spawning with him 3x.
