Sump Bubbles

Just set up my sump & skimmer a couple of days ago - so far so good. But I don't seem to be able to get the water to flow from the tank down into my sump without masses of bubbles into the first sump chamber. Are these bubbles bad & should I keep trying to get a more "clear" flow?

Add LR rubble into the 1st chamber.

Once the skimmer is in routine operation, the proteins, etc. that provide the building materials for the bubbles will be present in much lower concentrations and the incidental bubbles you see now will be much reduced in number and size. You may not ever be totally bubble-free, but it will not be an issue.
SW is physically different from FW, it does bubble better than FW. That is why skimmers do not work as well or as easily in FW as they do in SW.
