Protein skimmer

So, it was time to add a skimmer to my GSP tank. I've got a Boyu WG-524. I connected an air pump to it, and plugged both to electricity. It started bubbling a bit, but that's all. I then realized that I have no idea how this thing works.

I bought it second hand, so I've no manual to read. I've searched for a manual on the Internet, but haven't been successful there either. Does anyone have a clue how this thing should work? I guess it shouldn't be very different from other skimmers either. Any advice is welcome. Help!

It looks a lot like the Coralife Super Skimmer. Adjustments may be difficult. I assume this is a hOB?

It's an in sump skimmer.
It seems to be working quite different today - it looks more right. How far up in the skimmer is the water supposed to go?

Just enough to bubble lightly against the top of the cup. You'll have to adjust for wet or dry skimmate.

Thanks! I think I've got it right now. Reading the manual of the Coralife skimmer helped. I felt really, really stupid for a while. I've never used a skimmer before, and I knew nothing about it. Absolutely nothing. I didn't even know what to ask about in the beginning. Now I can understand how the ting works, and that makes it a lot easier. All I need now is some LR (which I will buy in two weeks), and then I have turned to the dark side. Mohahahaaa!
