just wondering, how do you guys get such good clear pictures of your fish?

im just using a digital camera, so the shutter speed remains constant...

IMO it's all about lighting. I have a decent camera (Nikon D3100) and it takes great pictures when I have the tanks fully lit, without the flash on. A speedlight is something I've been thinking about for a long time.

lighting is important but i dont think that would really help with a speedy fish. my older digital, which was nothing special at all, had a setting where the picture was taken quickly. lol shows how much i know about cameras or that one i had, i just knew which icon it was. i dont know anything special my newer digital camera would have lol i havent played with it much. but again its not like a nikon heavy duty one so all im worried about is the ability to take a decent picture

When we want a really nice photo of the fish it helps to have good lighting, a good digital camera and lots of patience......we normally take loads of photos then just pick out the best

i will have to sign up at that site later tonight and browse around. im the same carlov. i pretty much fill up my camera card and 2/3 are blurry and trashed lol wish fish would just get the camera/picture concept and pose still if they are in the mood

im going to have to have my friend come over with her camera lol

haha lucky Puffers are usually the more sociable fish. Try taking a shot of a guppy! That is an exercise in futility. Taking pics of my SAPs is difficult, but the DP is not. Any of my fish that greet me at the glass are easy.

My puffer will gladly meet me at the glass but will swim wildly and hide from the big black box (camera) when I take it over by the tank. I have set it on a tripod where he can see it though now, and move it closer to the tank when he seems to get used to it being there. Eventually I will be able to get a picture of my GSP.
