Should I use a power head in my tank for my puffer?

Hi stangd1909 just me again...... I'm not following you really I'm not. Best type of filtration for a saltwater setup is live rock and skimmer. You don't need any type of mechanical filtration ( nitrate factory). In the long run this type of set up save you money on salt because of less water changes. Let me see if Puffer Punk has a post or sticky on this.

This is what my display looks like right now, I may add another 25-35 LBS of live rock. I went small because I wanted to make sure the fish had plenty of room to swim around.

I got one just like it but a 54 gallon in an oak color . Not for my puffer mind you. They are cooling looking tanks just not the best for the larger puffers.

I guess I need to add another 40 LBS then....

You always need a powerhead (or 2), to move flow around your LR & to keep your detritus from settling in one place. Do you have a protein skimmer on there?

Do you have a sump? I would get one big enough to handle the eventual bioload of this fish as an adult, in your upgraded tank.

Yes I have a sump, 20 gallons. That's what I was thinking, bigger is better...I might as well spend the extra money and get one that I can use with my new tank.
