Snail breeding tank

Would this be an adequate setup for a snail breeding tank?

is it similar to a "sponge" filter so that the snail eggs do not get sucked up into a normal filter intake?

It has an Under-Gravel filter (UG) rather than a sponge filter. You will need 1-2 inches of gravel over top of the filter plate and try not to put large rocks or decorations on the gravel.
UG filters can be a little trickier to keep balanced than sponge filters but it is perfectly all right for a snail tank.
Just make sure to vacuum the bottom of the tank occasionally. Do half every month and it should be fine.
I also suggest getting some Malaysian Trumpet snails to help with clean up and aeration of the gravel.

You could just buy a small sponge filter for a few dollars and scrap the UGF. This would be easier to keep clean and probably do a better job.

1" of med-small gravel should be good for snails.

I have a very similar setup, mine isn't pink though
I have plenty of snails going to keep my two gsp's happy. The only thing is that with an UGF you have to have some gravel. I tend to loose some snails when I syphon out the gravel, but there are enough reproducing that I don't really worry about it much.
