Whats up with everyone deleting their posts after getting answers to their questions?

Half the time when I drop in and look at posts,....they have the answers but the original questions have been deleted...presumably by the originator of the thread.

Why bother to post a thread if you are so embarrassed by the answers that you delete them? All posts are meant to be a learning experience for forum members...and everyone was new at some point. Deleting your post IMO is childish and ruins the experience for other members.

Not trying to be a jerk but I am getting tired of opening posts that no longer make sense because half of it has been deleted. One of the greatest benefits of this forum is that it is open,...all types of feedback are allowed and this enhances the learning experience for us all.

I would encourage everyone to have the courage of your convictions and leave your posts intact.

There was a period a few months ago, where threads got deleted because we had to return the forum back to an earlier date to save it. Do you think that might have been what happened? I'm not logged in as a regular poster but do you have the ability to delete a post? I thought they didn't.

If you're commenting on what I think you are they may have been removed because they were actually by a sophisticated/smart spammer. A thread would be started with a bunch of unwanted links included. People answered the apparent question however the OP never visited the threads again. Once this happened several times Dad recognized what was happening and the spammer must have been removed and blocked, and therefore their posts would have been removed too

Yep, that's a possibility too. I am not aware of folks being able to delete their own posts, not do I remember seeing this happening.

that may be the answer,....just seems like it was happening alot.

We tried making it harder for them to get on but that prevented real folks with real puffer problems from getting on in emergency situations, so we're gonna just try our chances with catching spammers as quickly as we see them.

If I'm remembering correctly, there's a "delete this post" option available when you edit one of your posts. Once someone else posts, though, the Edit button is no longer available, and I would guess that the ability to delete wouldn't be available then, either. Not sure how a regular user would delete a post that has responses after it.

Most of what you are seeing is exactly as Flutter says. We've been getting some interesting spambots lately, kind of a new interesting trend. What I think is happening is that the wave of spammers we had were a setup to test security and now that they see how a forum operates they can formulate posts with advertising attached. I think some people don't even know their e-mail account (the on usually attached to the spam poster) is compromised in any way. When we do catch them they get lifetime ban and we delete their posts and the user. If anyone sees the advertising links on the bottom of the posts please let me, PP, or Flutter know so we can deal with it accordingly.

I noticed the ads/links for wedding dresses, etc....will be sure to mention it in the future. Thanx for keeping on top of things.
