hi, i am planning to get a 180ltr tank and am thinking of getting pufferfish, just at moment looking at what type of puffer, how many (i know that pends on type i go for), what information should i read to help me decide. any help will be much appreciated thank you . i am thinking freshwater/brackish

but that is kind of like window shopping. It all depends on what your LFS can obtain and that will narrow down the selection a lot

You have 47 US Gallons to play with so it all depends on what you can get hold of.
Group of Dwarf Puffers
Some of the lurkers like Monotrete Baileyi, Suvattii or Palambangensis.
If you can go low end brackish 3 F8's.
Or a single Fluviatilis or GSP if you want to head into the realm of full marine.

Tank dimensions play a part in it as they need territory to minimize aggression, which is never guaranteed in groups.

I, personally, vote for a Green Spotted Puffer (Tetraodon nigroviridis)!

With 180 litres you've got a good size tank, my recommendation would be 3 SAP's or South American Puffers, I've got 3 in a 150 litre and they and myself couldn't be happier! They are really active, inquisitive little guys each with big personalities and are very personal towards their owners! + They are freshwater fish!

You will need to provide crunchy foods as their teeth do grow, such as snails and shrimp but its not difficult to control or perform dentistry if necessary!

If your lucky with their personalities you may also be able to keep a few other species with them; such as a Bristlenose Pleco, or any other retiring hardy fish! Without fancy finns!
