i dosed my tank with praziquantal the first time last friday. its been 7 days exactly. seems like the IPs in my 4 inch mbu is getting worse. more white walrus and its getting thinner.

any idea on how repeat dosing should be like? with or without water change? dosage amount? doesnt exactly say on the bottle's instruction. many thanks guys!

Have you read our article on this? FW fish MUST be treated internally. You need to soak the food in the meds.

yes i did, the article in the library said that with praziquantel, you could either soak the food in the med or dose it in the tank.

btw, for white, transparent stringy poo, is praziquantel the right medicine to treat this?

Yes, but treat the food. Dosing the tank is only if the puffer won't eat.

my mbu's diet is clams. just soak the clams in the med for an hour?

You got it. is that all you're feeding him? He needs a more varied diet.

he likes clams, i tried feeding market shrimp previously, but it just flies all over the tank and he doesnt even bother to catch them, unlike my golden puffers. Clam in shell is good cause the meat is rooted to the clamshell and doesnt fly. I have a strong wavemaker in the tank thats why things fly.

How much praziquantel do i soak in each clam? Say i pry open each clam, and just pour enough med so that it doesnt overflow from the shell?

I'm not 100% sure but I think either will work. Maybe he's being overfed if he's too lazy to chase after food. ;) Try turning the flow off.

IPs cleared after using Jungle Labs internal parasite guard. MBU looking bulky and good now. metronidazole works well for IPs, praziquantel just a waste of money.

Jungle Labs have been around for a really long time and still has the far best treatments for freshwater tanks and fishes, imo. I have used their products well over 20 years and my parents used their product even farther back. Glad that the Internal Parasite Guard worked. Btw, freeze dried foods work the best when soaking meds or vitamins like a sponge, imo.
