Ive been keeping my betta in my 55 with my 4 marbled crayfish, so far have had no problems. Betta is in great shape no problems with his fins at all. Never see the crays go after him or anything. Well a month or so ago I noticed 2-3 of my crays had berried so I have been waiting to see the little babies running around the tank. I just did a water change and was checking out the crays and saw that only one of my crays was still holding and I had no babies. My only thought, since these crays arent known to eat their own, is that my damn betta ate them all

Sorry your betta is being a pest...I've had many like that and it's very irritating...

Maybe it'd be best to keep him in his own tank?

ya I was wanting to set up a 10 for 2 DP's or a bunch of shrimp but maybe it will be a betta tank

hey hey, I was just told that if you keep the tank on the darker side the crays will turn blue

BTW.. I have 6 on the arrival. any tips and or suggestions other than not having the Betta in the tank?

I would suspect the Betta. They eat anything they can stuff into their mouth. I've had Bettas that have eaten anything, including things they can't stuff into their mouth.

I rarely have my light on in the tank, dont have any plants so I dont need it. And they have a lite blue tint but nothing like the blue crays at the LFS.

As for hints, tons of hide placing. I took a long piece of 1.5-2in pvc cut into a about 5in peices. Boil em for a few mins(careful not to burn them lol) I also took the shells from the clams I fed Bloat and dropped them in. And for filtration im using sponge filters only and so far everything is working out great. Well other then the damn Betta.

Oh and you wont have to through out any of your clippings from your plants, the crayfish LOVE EM. I had a bunch of watersprite in my tank when I first put them in there and it was gone in under 2 weeks.

Ours have yet to eat plants, though we haven't tried recently. We'd need to weigh them down somehow.

Not as $$$ as my tube anemone. He ate a $400 fish & many more.

My gf has red cherry shimps in her beta tank, so many of them had eggs and no baby's.... I don't think I'll tell her what her problem may be loller

Bettas are so annoying in that respect. Their stomachs are TINY - the size of their eyeballs - but they have endless appetites. Plus, they'll eat just about anything, including plant-based food that's rough on their digestive systems. My bettas don't attack their tankmates, but I've had to eliminate most possible tankmates because they'll eat their food.
