Mbus need a 1000gal (approximately 4000 liters). Does your friend have a tank that size? If she can't provide for it then she shouldn't buy it.

3000L (almost 800g) is large enough for a mbu puffer. Does he have the filtration for a tank this size? Read RTR's article on his.

I thought 1,000g was the bare minimum and that 800g wouldn't be near enough.

I do not believe 1000g to be bare minimum, just highly suggested.

Let me correct that--although 1000g is ideal, 800g is better than what most are housed in.

I don't think that drills bit was the best tool for the job. Should have not taken so long. What tranq are they using?

Not sure, but given the fact that the puffer stopped breathing I'd go with clove oil.
I commented on the MS-222 when I found this.

I do consider 1000 gal the bare minimum, and that still will be a high-upkeep tank with alternate-day vacuuming and multiple water partials weekly. Few folks consider the mass of an adult T.mbu. Their mass is shocking. That is a lot of food in and waste out, and not as much room as you would think for exercise.
Could you maintain a small dog in a crate that size 24/7/365? Think about it.
