Here is a couple pics and a video of our new snake eating. Don't watch the video if your are squeemish, it is fairly graphic. She was sold as a Anerythristic blood red cornsnake but I am unsure if that is really what she is, any snake lovers out there that can help me properly ID her that would be great. She is currently close to 2 ft long.

Snake lover here . Well it's 110% cornsnake but not sure if it's the right color morph though. I only owned a ghost and a Rootbeer corn snake. Corn snakes comes in sooooooo many color and pattern morphs, it ain't funny. Well more color morphs then pattern morphs though. Btw, I only feed my young 3 foot red-tail boa constrictor small thawed frozen rats. Started out on frozen hopper mice when it was under a foot long. Frozen mice are much safer to feed your corn snake, imo. Had a ball python that got bit by a live feeder mouse once and since then I only feed frozen. Plus live mouse carry parasites. That is anouther reason also. But anyways, sorry that I could not help you on the color morph of your corn snake.

Ya I am realizing there is whack loads of different morphs out there. She has been raised on live, I would prefer to feed her frozen for safety reasons and for the fact that it is easier to buy a bunch of frozen mice then having to keep going back to get one at a time

There were quite a few people at the store who wanted her but my gf works there and we had her on hold for awhile. I really like her pattern and color, you can see slight hues of purple here and there.

I have a type A anerythristic corn! She's just over a year.

True blood reds (and many corns) vary greatly in color over the years. Yours sure looks like an anery, but I'm not sure about the blood red... they often have grey heads with reddish bodies. Yours might get red as it ages.

Wish I was a bio major (English writing). Both anerythristic and blood red are recessive morphs--and anerythristic snakes lack reddish pigmentation. Doesn't mean yours isn't blood red, but it might show up a different way.

Does it help to id her by also saying that she has a checkered pattern on her belly?

Folk etymology tells us that corn snakes are called so because of their bellies--really, it's because of their frequent proximity to corn sheds and silos (for mices &etc.).

Great farmers friends. Spending alot of time in cornfields, hint their name..lol



Btw, know a petshop in Indiana that carries alot of cornsnake morphs right along with other species of snakes.

Here are some new pics of her, was giving her a bath because the last couple molts haven't been clean ones. The last one was better though.

No checkered pattern on her underside either just straight gray.

as far as the blood red goes ......yours isn't a blood red , as they have red heads and it would have shown signs before it got to the size of yours, however they probably meant it carries the blood red gene which is cool if you are going to breed them
