hello from singapore, great forum this is, extremely informative. great to be here.

my 4.5 inch MBU, smallest occupant in the tank, but the biggest terror. likes to bite small chunks from my rays, hope it would start behaving itself.

Puffers don't behave themselves as they mature, they get more aggressive. Expect bigger chunks missing from your rays.

im trying to mix it with my pig nose, but pig nose likes to bite its tail. such a pain mixing fishes sometimes.

Best not to mix puffers with anything. Suvattii are especially mean!

ya unfortunately puffers arent known for getting along with others at all. And one day your MBU may think a rays eye is a snail and poof goes the ray eye.

Puffers are not community or mixed tank fish. Giant puffer need giant tanks just for themselves.

im thinking of getting a tub for my pig nose, so that my mbu can take over its tank and be alone.

mbu has got its own tank for about a week now. poor pig nose in the tub now.

at what size will the mbu's tail start to fan out permanently?

That depends on the tank size and current. Just as it does on whether or not the fish grows to full size and normal configuration - all part of the same thing..

do mbu like a lot of current? ive got a wavemaker in my tank. and its an honour talking to u RTR.

i meant my pig nose turtle, not pig nose puffer. cheers
