Congo eating snails?!

It seems I can't train ushmew to eat dead foods or earthworms. But we have just discovered he is eating his way through the ramshorns, the 20 bladder snails are not to be seen... No wonder he won't take the foods offered. I was wondering tonight why there was shell debris everywhere and low and behold he eats one in front of us. Now the question is, I put some giant Sulawesi snails in there over the weekend not realising, now not sure what to do with them... We saw him nip the end of one. Should I try them with my hairy who hasn't touched the rams or ponds? We were very surprised to find ushmew had eaten them!

nothing wrong with snails.. if you have enough.

I found that 90% of the food I offered my puffers was rejected.. the 10% that they do like, the love. Of that some has to be supplemented with minerals (blood worms).

Trial and error, and more error, and more error .. and eventually you will find a balance.

Mine wouldn't touch snails. Even kept a giant apple snail with her for maid service.

My Palembang (I have never kept a Congo) would only eat red ramshorns - spoiled beast. He(?) ignored normal-color ponds and ramhorns. But he loved both live ghost shrimp and worms and even silversides (on a bamboo skewer), so it was not difficult to keep him happy.

Thanks for the reassurance, he seems to have a voracious appetite so have put the sulawesi in with the hairy as noticed good supply of adult and baby snails about so hopefully these will be good too.

And oh lordy lordy! The blooming bailyei has now eaten cucumber of all things, he didnt go back for more but had a good mouthful, my oddballs are really oddballs lol
