The scat was originally purchased as a "guinea pig" to cycle the large tank for my 2 GSPs that were being temporarily housed in smaller tank. I figured the scat would be running for his life once the GSPs made it there.

Long story short, both GSP were from Wal-Mart and had IP and one made it, the other didn't. Now the lone GSP has been in the larger tank with the scat and they seem to be getting along. Would these make good tank mates or will the GSP eventually turn on him? Right now they are both ~ 2.5" and in SG 1.018 (will evetually go full marine when GSP hits 4")

Any ideas?

Eventually the scat will be lunch...IMO

Scats are among the very few fish which make a puffer or Oscar look neat. They are gross eaters and poop more than huge plecos. They are also huge fish. Unless your tank is a 180 or larger, you do not have room, even if very heavily filtered and with more than one 50% partial weekly.

Trade off the scat while you still can, or scale up the tank suitably and give the GSP a tank to itself.
