http://www.otherwise.com/population/exponent.html

Found this interesting, you can change the birth rate to see how fast animal populations can be out of control.

the applet is a fish tank and the fish represent the population growth.

If you give cats a birth rate of 3 the population reaches over 100,000 in ten generations.

I had fun playing with it :)

yep that is true.. to an extent.. I learned that in High School .. our science teacher said that natural disasters and disease are actually good for the planet ... (especially humans) and that aid is a problem. Very controversial stuff...

Blindly giving Aid to third world countries with corrupt governments is never a good idea..think Hatti..some people refused to volunteer or give aid for the last disaster because they had helped or given aid in previous disasters..only resulting in the country remaining the same..

Equate it with Katrina..at least down there they see the problem and are restructuring levies. So that when the next storm comes they would be better prepared..

But just to add to what you have said...it is the reason why after we cure or at least extend the lives of those afflicted by disease..a new disease or strain pops up.

And you could go further with the argument and include genetic diseases...natures way, I guess.

No offense to those with diseases or affected by natural disasters!

the way he put it back then .. the longer our life expectancy the more damage we do. Aid and short term fixes do not solve the over population problem .. in the end nature and the rich always win ...

As I have a tendency to say too often - you cannot fool Mother Nature, but usually without pointing out that the deck is stacked against you, which it is. Aid is a Bandaid. The laws of nature are not easily repealed.
