How do i know if i have white spot?
My DFP (2 inch long in the body) has 3 very small white spots they look like they come out of the body, they look like grains of sand or salt. He is eating well and excercising well.
3 days a go i added a new fish (picasso trigger fish 1/4 of the DFP size) first evening they were fine, the next day the picasso was biting my chromis and DFP so i removed him from the tank and gave him to my friend. I am unsure whether i have white spot or not? Or whether my puffer got stressed with the new fish i added, my DFP was unhappy after the biting but is back to normal now.
I was looking at white spot remedies but i dont know what the maximum temp Dog Faced Puffers can take and how high i need to take the salinity upto.
My tank is 350L,
PH 8.3,
Nitrite Nil
Ammonia Nil
Nitrate 12.5mg/ml
Water change due on Saturday
Temp: 26.3c
Salinity: 1.020

I would say if there are only a few spots, it could possibly be sand on him. Anything on the fins?

He has one on his fin which could be a bubble it is so tiny i cant tell, since we have had him he loves swimming in bubbles you see. The ones on his body are not bubbles and seem to be more in his body rather than sitting on top! My partner seems to think it is where the picasso nipped him, but i am worried and feel close to tears where i think there is something wrong......

Just wondering if they have spines like other puffers? I know that sometimes my GSPs teeny tiny spines are visible & look like white spots.

No Dog faced Pufferfish dont have spines like porcipine puffers

All puffers do have spines though.

Yes they have spines (bone), but not spikes which is what i thought you meant sorry....
He is a Hush puppy dog faced puffer pretty common pufferfish

I wouldn't worry so much--just keep an eye on it.

They all have spikes/spines (I appreciate that porcs are more obvious than most) - just mostly only visible when they puff. As I said, I occasionally see them on my GSPs - depends on the light/how much they have eaten!!

BFF is correct. You may not be able to see them well on a DF but they're definitely there. Just find a pic of them puffed.

The one spot on his fin is definately bigger and starting to go fluffy!
What do i do im sure he has white spot now
What is the maximum temp i can go up to with Dog faced puffers and what shall i bring my salt down to? Do i do this gradually or straight away? Is this the best way to eradicate it? I do not have the facility for a QT.....

Ok i see what you mean! He has never puffed up before but looked online to see one.....
