Looks like a rare find: http://aquaworld.netfirms.com/Labyrinth ... llanti.htm
I had the sales gal look it up on her phone, before I bought it. Should go perfect in my discus tank.

Actually, PP, if you're still using Melafix in your discus tank, you shouldn't get this one. Melafix/Pimafix destroy labyrinth fishes' labyrinth organs. :(

Hmmm... I have a discus with a bit of fin rot. Good thing I didn't dose any yet then. I Don't have to use it--just a precaution.

You can use salt to treat it instead.

I didn't think softwater fish (or plants) appreciated salt.

Nice discus PP!
Do U keep the German Rams in with the discus as well?

I did but had a big wipe out of fish in there about a year ago, due to too much Melafix at the high temps. Woke up to a bunch of dead fish, including the rams, a couple of discus & some exotic plecos (I collect them too). :(

Yah U mentioned U have a Royal pleco before somewhere. Love them! I'm looking at getting a "watermelon" pleco-they look great and don't get lazy about cleaning like some other plecos.
Too bad about the loss. I never had much luck with keeping rams either, but want to try again in a species tank one day

A small amount of plain old aquarium salt shouldn't be bad, not in the short term. Indian almond leaves would work, too, and they actually soften water. Of course, clean warm water and time ought to be enough anyway, so you can probably get away without any real treatment.

How often would U have to replace the Almond leaves?

When they stop making clear water brown. So, if you did a water change, and the water didn't change color much, you should replace them, because it means they've stopped leeching tannins.
