BCgirl asked me earlier and I think it wont work but I figured Id ask cause I would like to do it. Can a Betta go in with some Marbled Crays? Or will they pick him apart? It will be in a 55 if that matters

We keep swordtails with our marbled crays. And a couple platys. The fish are quick enough & I've never noticed any signs of them being pinched or anything by the crays.

I wonder how neons would do. Like BC I wanna color up my 55

Neons would probably be ok. They'll stay near the top, away from the crays...and if one gets caught, they're not super expensive to replace. The only fish we've lost to crays are bottom dwelling, slightly bossy cichlids.

cool petsmart seems to be having a sale on cardinals so I may pick up a dozen of them.

We have had good results keeping fish with them. The fish seem to pick up the food the crays don't find. Water quality has been better since we overhauled the cray tanks and added fish. Keep in mind this advice is for marbled (self cloning) crays. They are quite a bit more peacefull than some of the other species. We have lost a few fish to florida crays and especially Procambrous Clarkii.

good to know, have to wait for 2 more sponge filter to come in and seed some before i add any fish.
