Goldfish? Does anyone remember those?

Does anyone know of a goldfish that grows no larger than 4-5 inches? Thanks in advance...

my Ruykin ate about 5" including the tail.

I'd like something a little more pretty than a feeder fish...lol. How old is your Ryukin?

A "dwarf pygmy betta goldfish" only grows to the size of it's tank. You should get one of those.







I recall hearing of a china doll goldfish that only gets to like 3", but I think they are very rare.

I actually have 2 comets right now. I bought them to keep an established 55g cycled and I kinda like 'em. I've done this before with goldfish and after I'm done using them I just flush them. I flush them right in to a friends 100 foot pond that has comets in there from years ago. They are in hog heaven in his pond and the only thing they have to worry about is the occasional turtle.

The "fancier" rounded-bodied GF grow about as large as your fist (their body only). I prefer calico orandas, myself.

i have 2 goldfish 1 comet 1 koi thats just crazy my koi likes to eat bgut i dont feeed him small children.i realize thats a wild koi but crap fliper is growing,but im not feeding him kids lol

I actually really love the large fancy fat fellas. I have a tatt of a calico oranda. For some reason they kept dying on me... I wish I knew when I was keeping them, to do 90% weekly WC.

I'll just be cycling my tank for now and looking and little golden beauties until then. When I make my decision, I'll take some pictures and post!

I have no tatts, but I do have an over 20 year old cull/feeder who is seriously stunted (~6" standard length). He was the last of a batch of feeder culls, left alone in a 20 when my my last piscivorous frog managed to drown himself. I had another tank of feeders still in QT/conditioning and did return those to the LFS, but the singleton was too large for the bag at the time, so I planned to do it later. That never happened. Eventually he got moved to a 33XL and there he still lives.

The fish lacks a dorsal, but has a comet's body configuration. The fish is largely if not completely blind now, is kept too warm, but has not has a bad life. I used to keep some fancy goldfish, but this house ha no cool areas The prior house's ground floor was significantly cooler - which is where I had goldfish.

I allowed 30 gallons each minimum for GFs then, significantly more for the really fat-bodied ones. I have had some massive Lionheads - there was one that I felt was cramped in a 75. It really should have been in a 120 or more, but I had no big tanks then.
