OMG and Arggghhh!

So, I fell asleep and had a nightmare that there was something crawling across my chest. The nightmare ended with me beating the living snot out of what ever this most evil of things was. When I woke up and pulled the covers back there were large spider legs and unidentifiable miscellaneous parts lying on me. Now, keep in mind that I'm deathly afraid of spiders and start to sweat when I even see one from a distance....I saw the scattered legs, yelled, and took off out of the room. I don't think I touched the ground as I went down the stairs, stripping of my shorts and T-shirt as I went. Imagine my embarrassment when my neighbor (whom i also work with) came running in the back door thinking I had badly injured myself only to find me naked, pale, in a quivering heap on the sofa. The good part was that he understood, he hates the eight legged bastards too, and he sat there until I collected myself. The bad news, his new bride walked in to check on us when he didn't return after a minute...

I'd say I'm not arachnophobic, but on a couple of occasions I've launched out of bed because something harmless but hairy has walked over my face
I used to have a very slight phobia of spiders but that dimished with time. I sometimes keep UK wolf spiders in a small tank in the garage for a couple of weeks at a time to try to help our eight year old become less sensitive to them. His idea, not mine - bug hunt stuff. Then I quitely release them outside near a woodpile...
We are sort of ok in the Uk for potentially nasty spider bites, all are venomous but none that hazardous.
I'm usually ok because the cats jump on and eat any spider found indoors!

I'm scared of spiders too. I have gotten better, but it still is an issue. Spiders still can make me do rather stupid things, like almost crashing my car, because of a spider in front of me (I let go of the steering wheel in panic).
As a child, I was VERY scared of spiders, but didn't dare to tell my parents, as I was afraid I would be teased about it. Unfortunately spiders loved my room. I remember that I once I wake up in the morning, feeling something tickling on the inside of my elbow. I scratched myself, turned over, and went to sleep again. A little later, I wake up. When I took a look at the inside of my elbow, I saw looong legs sticking out there.

I woke up very quickly!

Oh my goodness!! You poor guy, I would have freaked out the same way!
How strange how you were dreaming about it, and it was actually happening!!!

geeze! lol im sorry but thats an awesome story Dadof4. any pictures of the carcass? any idea what type of spider it could have been or was that a bit of an exaggerated "large spider legs"? large to me im imagining a tarantula of some sort, but i couldnt imagine the mess that would have been left behind if a rose haired or pink toe was squished and rolled around in

I was wondering when someone would come up with the urban myth where you swallow the things in your sleep.
Rhubarb, wouldn't happen.
So why was I dreaming about a small scorpion dangling down toward me on a spider thread from it's nest in the ceiling tiles about three or four days ago? I am scared of some creepie crawlies and those are they. And tropical centipedes. Yeuch!

I had a dream a while back that a bear suddenly put its claws on my chest, I swung my arm out to get the 'bear paw' off me. As I woke up my poor brown rabbit was launched across the room. The bunny was fine, mad and shaken, but no harm. Our brown rabbit was so well behaved we wouldn't close the cage and the rabbit would often hop in bed and sleep near us. That put and end to that.

Awww!!!
Hey, so, my mom told me a story about my grandfather. One night, he dreamed that he was putting out a forest fire, and then when he woke up he was wetting the bed.
And one time, my godsister dreamed that she was fighting the balrog in Khazad-Dum and was falling into shadow, and when she woke up, she was halfway from the top bunk to the floor.

No pictures of the remnants (I'n not that masochistic) but it was actually big, I'm guessing a Wood spider. Towards winter we get them in the house and my wife has found some that were about 2-3 inches across.
We do odd things when we dream. Right after my wife and I started dating we had a quiet after noon and fell asleep on the bed. I dreamed that someone was trying to break in my house, I sat up in bed, looked at Liza, yelled a few obscenities and punched her. I woke up to her screaming and bleeding.....The worst part was that we were due to go to dinner at her parents place that evening so I could meet her parents for the first time. We went, blackeye and all, explaining as we went...
