Hi Guys,

Does anyone use Interpet - Green Away to clear the water of any traces of suspended algea?

Is it Puffer-friendly?

I would never use any algae-remove chemicals in my tank.

Im with PP, no unneeded chemicals in my tanks. I say cut food, light will help a ton

Green water in other than a new/young set-up is a tank management issue. Adding products to correct management issues is an exercise in futility.

mine is on for 8 hours a day

just about the same with mine. i havent scrubbed my glass in months and have minimal algae. most algae is growing on the rock that the powerhead directly hits. mostly cultivating it for in tank pods for my scooter blenny

hmm. mine is (currently) on for 8 hours a day, I have allowed a Nitrate issue to deveolpe over time however. So I'm getting into more frequent water changes as of today in order to rectify this, may reduce the algae.

How often and how much water are you changing out. Is this the tank with your "Four brand new figure of 8 puffers" in it. How long has it been setup and what size is it? Do you have any nitrates in your tapwater?

I've been wanting to use algae chemicals in my tank, but never did because I had a prawn (grown ghost shrimp) that cleaned up after everyone. The only algae chimicals I could find at a decent price said not to use with crustaceans. My prawn shed one day and the puffers attacked and killed it.

My algae issue has gone down since I cut back the food and put the light on a timer. I have light on from 8:30a - 10:30p. I know that's a bit longer than most of y'all, but I like to look at my fish since they're visible from the couch.

Should I try cutting the light down to 8 hrs and do more water changes, before I try chemicals? What's the recommended amount of water changes? I've been doing like 20-25% every other week...

Most of do at least 50% per week.

Algae killer is just a waste of money anyway. You can only add it once per water change, and even that risks fish deaths, and meanwhile it gradually does less and less each time you use it until it does nothing.

Plus I've just changed my substrate over to aragonite sand so I've carried out a monster water change yesterday... I have to say, my
water has never looked clearer.

perhaps there is something to this water-change thing after all eh?

got a timer so the tank gets a max of 8 hours tanklight a day also...

If this is for your four F8 puffers then you should be doing about 50% every week, once again.
