I did some good shopping today

Today I visited my favorite aquatic shop for picking up some equipment I had ordered. I ended up doing some nice buys:
I had ordered 20 kg of Instant Ocean, but got a 25 kg bucket for almost the same price.
I got some cories I've looked for for a very long time, which were pretty expensive, but I got 10 % off on them. This is a really cool cory, with the longest nose you can find. C. narcissus.
I also got some price off on some other equipment too. And when you know that this shop has low prices to begin with, I must have done a good deal today. :D I spent too much money, but it could certainly have been worse. Ooooh! Those beautiful and very cool cories! :smitten: I've been looking for them for a looong time. I've ordered them twice before, just to realize that I got the wrong species when they arrived. But this time it's the real deal. I've bought 6 of them. I hope they will find a good life here at my house. I will have to watch them though. This is an aggressive cory species (there aren't many of them), so I really have to keep an eye on how they treat each other. The males make themselves small territoriums, and chase other males off their spot. Not a kind of behaviour you suspect from a cory! So there you have everything I like in a cory: I love the larger species with long noses, and that they are a little bit aggressive. That's the description of a corydoras narcissus, :-D

I've never even seen that type online, they look like skunk cories. I have some skunks and love the way they look. They are may favorites after panda cories.

Those are so cool-looking! Their behavior sounds really neat, too.

Yes, I've tried to buy those cories for several years now. I've ordered them twice, and both times I got another species instead. But this time they had the real thing. They are of course wild caught. :D I've had a short list of fish I would buy whatever bad finances I have at the time, and this is one of the species on that list. Actually, it's the last species on the list, so now there will be no more expensive fish for a looong time.

Here is why they look like skunk cories (The common name I bought c. arcuatus under)...
C. narcissus is the long snouted ''version'' of C. arcuatus and is readily identifiable by this characteristic.

I think I might have to start asking around for these. :grats:

They are not easy to find. I've tried for a few years. Twice I ordered this species, and both times I got something else (I love them too though). This is a bit special species to be a cory. They are a bit aggressive and territorial. AFAIK the males prefer schooling with other, smiliar species, like CW-36 (super-arcuatus - they look like giant skunk cories. One of the species I got when I ordered narcissus), instead of their own. When my new group is out of quarantine, I will divide them between those two almost-narcissus groups (the groups I got instead of narcissus) of similar species.

I can tell you that their "mother" have no problems with loving them. I have tried to get those for 3-4 years. And the longer you have to wait for something, the more you love them. :D
