what's this? F8

PH - 7.3 (to be raised later on via adding appropriate substrate for KH levels)
salinity 1.004
NO3 - 25-50 mg/l
NO2 - less than 1mg/l

20%water changes regularly

tank four years old, well cycled

four F8 in 175litres
been in tank for three days, I think i saw this when i first put the F8 into tank. No other F8's affected.

still eats heartily, twitches occasionally

not cotton in appearance, looks like dull patches

looks like puffer bite marks to me.

hmm... it was raised in another thread that I should re-house one of them. I think this is proof positive, if this is indeed biting.

It probably happened before you got them. The F8s I see at the pet stores look like that and I'm guessing it happens during shipping when they are all crammed together.

Perhaps some Melafix to help heal those bites? Make sure to add an extra airstone when using Melafix, so your puffer gets plenty of oxygen.

there were around 30 in a small display tank, so,it's likely...
