Greetings,

Please allow me to intimate you with a business transaction that would benefit both of us. I am the director of the project and engineering division of SODECI (Société de distribution d'eau de Côte d'Ivoire). I will want you to assist me in the claim and transfer of Seven Million Euros.

This amount was realized from over-invoiced contract amount awarded by us in 2007 to expatriate companies. The Contract's Amount was deliberately overestimated to read more than the actual cost of the project thus leaving a surplus of Seven Million Euros. However, as a staff of SODECI I cannot claim this money without a foreign partner who will act as the contract beneficiary and as such, entitled to receive the funds as payment. This is why I am contacting you to allow this money to be transferred into your account and to be my custodian for the money.

If you are willing to assist me in this transaction please get back to me at (allyy45@live.com) so I can give you further details about this transaction. I am willing to give you 25% of the total amount after the transfer, the rest will be held and released to me when I get to your country. I look forward to hear from you.

Thanks.

Wow, that makes me laugh, and yet scares me at the same time.

I laugh because it's a completely rediculous to me that anyone would be like, "woah, let's do this." Then it scares me because I know two people that were fallen to believe some of that kind of crap. One was a little older lady that was ready to send her retirement money to some place in Canada via wire transfer, in hopes to have the money doubled or tripled and sent back. I told her to check it out deeper first - turns out it was a scam. Also, a friend of mine once fell 'in love' with a girl in an email - he had sent her over $1,000 without ever once hearing her voice, or seeing more than a photo. He asked me to read his emails, and to me, clearly full of crap - but he had his heart set. $2,000 more down the drain to her - and she was supposedly coming to live with him (still no phone conversation, over a couple of months - seemed fishy to me ) but he still was totally heartbroken when she never came off the plane when he went to pick her up.

I don't know, I don't trust most of ANYTHING I find on the internet - but emails like you got, those make me laugh. Wouldn't it be great though, a bunch of money for being a name - well, and wouldn't that be money laundering?

I got the same message in my inbox this morning as well, thought I was the only one to get an INTIMATE business transaction with the Ivory Coast water distribution society ;(
25% of a mere 7 million Euros may of covered a couple more fish tanks, maybe filtration as well- sigh too bad. lol

But you guys could be millionaires! You never know... I watched an Interventions, where this guy was high on pills & sent $$$ to all these people. His family was complaining that they had to declare bankruptcy & sell their home. What's wrong with the family??? I would have just cut off his internet.

User is banned now, BTW.

I got a good one the other day. It basically was from an "American" who said she'd been scammed before and was trying to help other people not get scammed. The idea was that there was this "list" of people who were to receive money (don't remember why) and the first time this woman tried to get her money, she was scammed, but long story short, she seem my email address on this list and decided to contact me so that I would not be scammed like she was. Amongst other things, the odd part is that she provided me with her entire US postal address, house number, street name, city/town, state zip code (even + 4). I mean, who sends their complete address to someone they've never known.
I don't even read that stuff anymore. With as many people that are aware of internet scams you'd think they would shut down, but the sad part is that there must be quite alot of people who give money to these scammers or else why would they continue scamming?

Sad, sad world. :nervous:

 Good ole Nigerian Scam. I get several per week.

Good job banning them, PP. We don't need that nonsense here, too.
