What do you think - good and/or bad?

I love irrubescos and I think they'd enjoy that tank. I would recommend getting some taller plants as well though. They really need a complex environment with broken lines of sight. How large is the tank and would there be other inhabitants?

As for that thread, the price for them is absolutely ridiculous. Shop around more to see if that is actually the going rate in your area. I think we paid $4Cdn for ours vs. your $18+Cdn. Irrubescos also do best when kept in pairs and that person is offering 3 males so you'll want to look for females as well.

puffers are rare as rocking horse poo in NZ so prices are what they are...

the tank is 160L and currently has a few retired tetras and 2 x GBA's.
If I got the puffs then the tetras would go but the GBA's will stay in their forest

thanks for the reply, i'm watching the swords in the corner of the tank grow at the moment, they are about 3/4 the way up to the top now (cant see them too well in the pic) plus the lotus has a lot of new leaves starting to climb to the surface.

What are GBA's?

It's a shame that they're so scarce in NZ. They really are awesome fish

yeah I've got my two fig8 puffs and I only came by them by chance. We get some of the marines come through and couple of breeders with dwarves but the odd ones (i.e. brackish etc) are hard to come by except from die hard puffer nuts!
