Photo editors!

I'm looking for a huge favor from someone with photo-editing skills. My forum (
http://thetriopsforum.com/) is in need of a banner. I don't have the skills or the software, and neither do our active members. We would really appreciate any help.

Paint. I want something that looks a little more... professional.
Hey, that site looks neat... Is that how TPF's was made? Looks like it...

Needs a little tweaking, but it's not bad at all! Thanks for the link, J-P.

no probs.. you can drag the text to reposition it where you want it
If you post the background pic, I, or someone, can lighten it up for you also

do it like TPF but a triops picture head on on the left with a water effect behind it then to the right the site/forum name....if u get a real good pic i could ask a friend of mine to do it he does it for a living. Probably take him not that long either. Take a good pic or from the net. Ill give it to him. He's very creative and might even make a few...also he used to buid websites. Now hes a film editor. So a photo edit/banner should be a cake walk for him. Lemme know. Email
ChefSamD@gmail.com or PM. email is quicker for me thou.

I did drag the text where I wanted it.

I have IrfanView, which is really basic editing software, and I can lighten it up myself, but thanks for the offer. The main thing I want to fix is the size - it's a tiny bit short for my site. I also want to get some kind of border on it.

Okay, one thing that I could use help with is getting a cut-out selection to have nothing around it instead of white. I'm making a signature banner, and I'm trying to cut out a triops and put it on there, but I have a big white background. I was able to do it with PhotoShop in the high school journalism lab, way back when, but I don't have PhotoShop anymore.

Download GIMP
http://www.gimp.org/, its like a free version of Photoshop and can do banners. Actually I think it has a banner template for web hosting.

Thanks, Dad! I installed it just now. Actually using it will have to wait till I finish this paper (close-read of sixteenth-century lyric poetry, anyone?), but hopefully I can try it out this week.
