I just got my filter installed for my 110g tank. It has a sump with about 7-800 gph pump. The return doesnt seem to be moving the water much. it is a long spray bar with a lot of holes pointing more down. Would it be a good idea to either shorten the spray bar/block some holes, or should I redrill the holes so they point more toward the surface. Or another thought is to put in a pump just to move the water more?

U could use a koralia type pump to help push the water around the tank, and/or if U wanted a diy project-find some white pvc pipe with male/female ends that would allow U to direct the outflow where U want it. The spraybar I use is in three pieces, so I use two facing down, and one skims across the top of the water line. Google Eheim spraybar for a general idea of what i'm taking about as I realize the way I worded this may be a bit confusing
If U use pvc pipe, just make sure its safe for potable water

Im debating on filling all the holes and redrill them more on top of the bar, or just replacing the bar with a normal output

Now just to figure out how to make the PVC overflow quieter, this thing is making me have to pee bad lol

Just have the return be 90* bend piece of PVC. Spray bars will get clogged. As for flow get a koralia pump.

Look up 'stockman overflow' -or- 'durso overflow' You should be able to get it practically silent, if not just a quiet occasional gurgle.

Sea Swrils are sweet, but I dont get how you can get away with that little flow, you have a 90g AGA tank right? The overflow can handle at max 500-600gph, my tank needed the 500gph return as well as 1 koralia 4 and 4 mj1200s to keep the flow right.

Sea Swrils are sweet, but I dont get how you can get away with that little flow, you have a 90g AGA tank right? The overflow can handle at max 500-600gph, my tank needed the 500gph return as well as 1 koralia 4 and 4 mj1200s to keep the flow right.

From the pics of your tank it sure does work fine! It goes to prove there is more than one way to skin the reef cat!

I made my own durso overflow. Could show you a pic if you want. Very easy and almost a must.
